Step-by-Step Challenge 2009*
17 January – 17 April 2009

WHAT IT IS the Step-by-Step Challenge?
A program to encourage a healthy lifestyle, a fun
family activity and a way to beat the winter
blues! Walking is an activity any one can do,
anywhere and at any age.
Using a pedometer to measure how many steps are
taken enables the walker to
measure their achievements and to visualize the
number of steps taken.
KICK-OFF
The Step-by-Step Challenge will be kicked off by a
pancake breakfast on
Saturday, 17 January 2009 at 220 High Street East
(High Park Towers) morning between 9 and 11:00
a.m.
But, before the pancake breakfast, you need to do
two things:
1. Register for the challenge at the FTA Center
(not the MJHA Office),
2. Confirm attendance with the FTA Worker if you
will be at the breakfast so we know how many
pancakes to flip!
REGISTRATION There is no registration
fee required.
• Registration is now under way. One
pedometer per family will be handed out at
the Pancake Breakfast.
• After 17 Jan. 2009, tenants can go to the
FTA Center at 100 - 665 Fairford St. East
to register and pick up a free pedometer,
one per family.
• Families may join any time during the
challenge time period.

FTA SEMINAR & ANNUAL
GENERAL MEETING

for Saturday, 28 February 2009 from 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The morning will be used for in-depth
training for those that wish to be active
with the Tenant Association. Participants
will learn to move the FTA from simply
“being a group” to functioning like an
effective team by driving the process and
encouraging one another to participate.
Also on the agenda that day will be the
Election of Officers for the Executive
Committee as well as the formation of
volunteer sub-committees.
Certification of Participation will be
distributed at the end of the morning. There
is no cost involved and lunch and
refreshments will be provided. Due to the
size of the room, participation will be
limited. If you are interested in attending,
or wish to know more details, please contact
the FTA Worker at 692-1255.
